“Listen to the mustn’ts, child. Listen to the don’ts. Listen to the shouldn’ts, the impossibles, the won’ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me… Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.”
― Shel Silverstein 09/28/1930 to 05/10/1999
“We all have our la-la-la song. The thing we do when the world isn’t singing a nice tune to us. We sing our own nice tune to drown out ugly.”
― Rita Williams-Garcia, One Crazy Summer @OneCrazyRita
“Rice, I can’t just leave Zoe behind chewing people up and spitting them out.”
“But she’s doing what she loves,” Rice replied. “You’d don’t want to take that way from her do you?”
“Sorry, Rice. I know she’s a zombie, but she’s also my sister.”
From “The Zombie Chasers” By John Kloepfer
I’m in the middle of this wonderful book, “The Underneath” by Kathi Appelt. Needed to share a quote…stay tuned for a review of this award winning middle grade book.
“Purring is not so different from praying. To a tree, a cat’s purr is one of the purest of all prayers, for in it lies a whole mixture of gratitude and longing, the twin ingredients of every prayer.”
― Kathi Appelt, The Underneath
“She was not a slowpoke grownup. She was a girl who could not wait. Life was so interesting she had to find out what happened next.” Beverly Cleary, Ramona the Pest
One of my favorite series as a child. Since I was a girl with ADD and Dyslexia I could relate to the pesty Ramona. She didn’t mean to be a pest…it’s just what happened.
